| "Your command," answered the genie, "is not wholly in my power; I am only the slave of the ri ng, and not of the lamp." "I command thee, then," replied Aladdin, "by the power of the ring, to bear me to the spot where my palace stands, wherever it may be." These words were n o sooner out of his mouth than he found himself in the midst of a large plain, where his palace stood not far from a city, and directly above him was the window of his wife's chamber. Just then, one of her household happened to look out and see him, and told the good news to the Princess. She could not believe it to be true, and, hastening to the window, opened it herself with a noise which made Aladdin look up. Seeing the Princess, he saluted her wi th an air that expressed his joy, in a moment he had entered by a private door and was in her arms. After shedding tears of joy, they sat down, and Aladdin said: "I beg of you, Princess, to tell me what had become of an old lamp which stood upon a shelf in my robing chamber." "The African magician," answered the Princess, "carries it carefully wrapped in his bosom. | 「你的命令，」巨人回答：「并不在我的能力范围之内，我只是戒指的奴隶，并不是神灯里的奴隶。」 「那么我命令你，」阿拉丁答道：「用戒指的力量，带我到宫殿所在的地方，不论宫殿是在何处。」 话刚刚说完，他就觉得已置身在广大的平原中，他的宫殿就在这里，离城市不很远，而他所站的地方的上面，便是他妻子寝室的窗子。 这时候，刚好她的家眷偶然向外看见了他，并向公主报告这个好消息。 公主不相信是真的，急忙到窗前打开了窗，开窗的声音使得阿拉丁向上看。 他见到了公主，就问候她并表现非常快乐的样子，不久他就从暗门进入寝室，并把她拥在怀抱里。 他们都因此而流下欢乐之泪且坐了下来。阿拉丁说道：「公主！请你告诉我，在我更衣室里的架子上有只旧灯，现在怎么样了？」 「那个非洲魔术师，」公主答：「小心地带着它，包好了放在怀里。 |
