| It was Sunday morning. The good people of Don Quixote's village were coming out of church when the Knight of La Mancha was brought to his home. First came the cart, with the knight stretched out in his cage. He looked more unhappy than ever. Sancho rode behind on his donk ey. He was followed by the priest and the barber on their mules. Last came Rozinante. When the cart stopped at Don Quixote's house, his niece and servant were waiting, standing at the door. They soon saw how weak and ill he was, and they cried out against those wicked books of chivalry. They carried him to bed, and the priest ordered them to guard him carefully. They promis ed to do this. But they were afraid that when he was well again, he would go back to his mad behaviour.
