| He Rides Until Evening As D on Quixote rode along, he imagined great fights which he always won. He rode slowly, for hour after hour, until the sun was high in the sky. He rode all that day, but found no adventures. When evening came, both he and his horse were tired and hungry. He was looking for a castle where he could get rest and food, when he saw an inn. It was almost dark when he rode up to the door. The inn was one of the poorest in Spain. It was used by workmen and poor travelers. But the mad knight thought it was a big castle. Two dirty beggar-women were standing outside the door. Don Quixote imagined they were rich ladies, taking an evening walk in front of the castle walls. Then, to complete this foolish idea, a man in a field blew his horn. He was only calling some animal s back to the farm. But Don Quixote was sure that a soldier on the castle walls had seen him. He thought the soldier was telling the ruler of the castle to come and greet him. He was very pleased, and pushed up his visor.
