More Adventures at the Inn Don Quixote Kills a Giant The next day they arrived at the inn where Don Quixote had made his magic medicine, and where Sancho had been beaten. Don Quixote asked for a b ed immediately, and when it was ready, he went to rest, for he was very tired. The others sat down to supper with the inn-keeper, his wife and his daughter. During supper, they talked of Don Quixote's madness. The priest said that the unlucky gentleman became mad through reading books of chivalry. The inn-keeper and his daughter both liked this kind of book. The priest was saying how foolish su ch stories were, when Sancho rushed into the room. "Rescue!" he cried. "Rescue for my master! A company of giants is attacking him. I saw him cut the head off one. The floor is covered with the giant's blood. His head is lying there like a big wine-skin." "The madman!" cried the inn-keeper. "He has cut open one of my skins of red wine." |
