| The Priest and the Barber Sancho Meets Some Friends On the day after he left Don Quixote, Sancho came to the inn where he had been beaten. He stopped outside, not knowing what to do. He could smell food, but he was frightened of this "magic castle." Then somebody called his name. "What are you doing here, Sancho Panza, and where have you left your master?" It was the barber from his village, traveling with his friend, the priest. At first, Sancho refused to say where Don Quixote was. But they told him that if he said nothing, people w ould say he had killed his master. This frightened him, and he told them how the knight was punishing himself because of Dulcinea. He told them also about the letter. The priest asked Sancho to sho w him the letter, and Sancho looked in all his pockets.
