132. The Hunter And The Woodman.

A Hunter, not very bold, was sear
ching for the tracks of a Lion. He asked a man felling oaks in the forest if he had seen any marks of his footsteps, or if he knew where his lair was. "I will," he said, "at once show you the Lion himself." The Hunter, turning very pale, and chattering with his teeth from fear, replied, "No, thank you. I didn't ask that; it is his track only I am in search of, not the Lion himself?"

The hero is
brave in deeds as well as words.
132. 猎人和樵夫
有一位胆子很小的猎人,正在寻找一只狮子的踪迹。 他问一个在林中砍橡树的人,可曾看见狮子的脚印,或者知道狮子的洞在哪里。 那人说道:「我可以立刻带你到狮子那里。」 猎人吓得脸色苍白,牙齿打颤地回答说:「不,谢谢你。 我并不是要问那个啊,我只是在單獨找他的踪迹,而不是狮子本身啊。」
