| 82. The Father And His Two Daughters A Man had two daughters, the one married to a gardener, and the other to a tile-maker. After a time he went to the daughter who had married the gardener, and inquired how she was, and how all things went with her. She said, "All things are prosper ing with me, and I have only one wish, that there may be a heavy fall of rain, in order that the plants may be well watered." Not long after he went to the daughter who had married the tile-maker, and likewise inquired of her how she fa red; she replied, "I want for nothing, and have only one wish, that the dry weather may continue, and the sun shine hot and bright, so that the bricks might be dried." He said to her, "If your sister wishes for rain, and you for dry wea ther, with which of the two am I to join my wishes?" | 82. 父亲和他的两个女儿 有一个人他有两个女儿，一个嫁给花匠，另一个嫁给砖瓦匠。 后来他到嫁给花匠的女儿那里去，问问他女儿的近况，以及过得如何？ 她说：「所有的事情都算不错，只是我有一个愿望；只要下一阵大雨，花草便因此可以得到滋润了。」 不久之后，他又到嫁给砖瓦匠的女儿那里去，用同样的话询问，她的生活过得怎样？她回答说：「我没有缺少什么，只有一个愿望，只要这干燥的天气持续下去，太阳照耀得暖和明亮，那么，砖头就可以晒干了。」 他便对她说：「如果你姊姊希望下雨，而你却希望晴天，在你们两个人的愿望中，我能使那一个人满意呢？」 |
