大暑

        每年的7月23日或24日为大暑。大暑正值中伏前后，是一年中最热的时期，气温最高，农作物生长最快。
        一般来说大暑前后，全国高温天气增多，中暑的人数会急剧上升。特别是在副热带高压控制下的长江中下游地区，骄阳似火，风小湿度大，更叫人感到闷热难当。全国闻名的长江沿岸三大火炉城市南京、武汉和重庆，平均每年炎热日就有17～34天之多，酷热日也有3～14天。
        炎热的大暑是茉莉、荷花盛开的时节，天气越热香气越浓郁。每到此时全国各地的城市公园都会举办荷花展，深受游人和摄影爱好者的欢迎。

Great Heat 

The day of Great Heat falls on the twenty-third or the twenty-fourth day of July every year. It comes around the second period of the dog days, and it is the hottest period of the year when the crops grow fastest.

Generally speaking, with the increase of hot days, more and more people suffer from heatstroke, especially in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River within the subtropical high areas. The weather is sultry and the sun is scorching, with little wind and great humidity. The three furnace cities along the Yangtze River, namely, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, have as many as 17 to 34 such hot days every year, including 3 to 14 extremely hot days on average.

The hot days around the day of Great Heat witness the blossom season of jasmines and lotuses. The hotter the weather is, the more fragrant the flowers are. Every year at this time, lotus exhibitions are held in city parks all over the country, which are very popular among tourists and photographers.
