菊花是中国传统四大名花之一，在中国文化中有着深刻的内涵。

The chrysanthemum is one of the four famous traditional flowers in China. It contains rich symbolic meanings in the Chinese culture.

      秋风萧瑟中，各种树木和花儿都畏寒凋零，只有菊花迎风傲霜，怒放枝头，清香宜人，因此，在中华文化中菊花成了不畏艰难、品质高洁的象征。菊花赢得了古往今来不少文人墨客的喜爱，他们种菊、赏菊、咏菊、画菊，形成了丰富多彩的菊文化。

When the autumn wind blows, all kinds of trees and flowers withered with the coldness. Only chrysanthemum can bear the wind and frost and is blooming in profusion, giving off its pleasant fragrance. Therefore, in Chinese culture, chrysanthemum became a symbol for righteousness and nobility. Chrysanthemum has won love of many writers in the past and the present who plant, appreciate, praise and paint the chrysanthemum, helping to form a colorful chrysanthemum culture in China.

      魏晋时期的著名田园诗人陶渊明非常欣赏菊花的高洁品性，在自己家门前种了很多菊花，每日"采菊东篱下，悠然现南山。"陶渊明不仅赏菊，而且食菊，他有诗曰："秋菊有佳色，邑露啜其英"。陶渊明通过赞美菊花来表现自己志向高洁，不与世俗同流合污。

Tao Yuanming, a famous poet in Wei and Jin Periods really thought highly of the noble character of chrysanthemum. He planted many chrysanthemum flowers in front of his house and wrote the famous lines "采菊东篱下，悠然现南山" (While picking chrysanthemum flower near the eastern fence, my gaze upon the Southern mountain rests). Tao Yuaning not only took appreciating the chrysanthemum as an aesthetic enjoyment, but also ate the flowers. In one of his poems, he wrote, "秋菊有佳色，邑露啜其英" (The chrysanthemum flowers in autumn are of great beauty. I picked some with dews and placed them in the wine). Through the praise, Tao Yuanming expressed his high ambition and unwillingness of associating himself with the earthen world. 

      在民间，菊花也以其花型优美，色彩缤纷获得了人们的普遍喜爱。每逢秋季菊花盛开的时节，不少地方都会举办规模盛大的菊花展。菊花展上游人如织，菊香醉人。现在正值金秋时节，正是赏菊的好时节，良辰美景，不容错过。
