| The students do not need to know they are being assessed and so do not feel tense or worried as they may do in an exam situation. Whereas an exam situation may seem false, especially an oral exam for example, informal classroom assessment gives a more realistic idea of the student as they work naturally with classmates. It also gives the teacher an idea of how a student learns or what techniques some students are most receptive to. Most importantly, it is a chance to find a student's strengths and weaknesses and tells the teacher what areas to reinforce and concentrate on in future classes. |
