  Activity 1 Learning Outcomes

Ask the children to look at the learning outcomes for the lesson – you may explain what they are going to learn in Chinese.

  Activity 2. Task based activity

Look at the school dinner menu (download) and choose 4 things that you would like to eat or drink.

Put the class into pairs A and B. Ask A to be a pupil and B to be a dinner lady. A should ask B for the four things he or she has chosen.

Work in pairs A and B.
A, you are a pupil. B, you are a dinner lady.
Pupils, you ask B for the four things you want to eat or drink.


They should then swap around and B should be the pupil and A should be the dinner lady.

Now swap over.
B, you are a pupil. A, you are a dinner lady.
Pupils, you ask A for the four things you want to eat or drink.

Monitor but do not correct. Just listen and take notes if necessary.

After they have finished they should talk to each other about any other words they don't know that they needed to do the activity.

Make a list of any words you don't know that would help you do this activity better.

They may not know some of the words for food or drink or they may not know how to ask someone what they want or how to ask for what they want.

仔细阅读学校正餐的菜单(下载)并从中选取四种你喜欢吃或喝的东西。
将班上的同学分成A和B两部分。让A角色的同学充当学生,B角色的同学充当学校餐厅的女厨师

Work in pairs A and B.
A, you are a pupil. B, you are a dinner lady.
Pupils, you ask B for the four things you want to eat or drink.

做一次后,A角色与B角色的互换再做。

Now swap over.
B, you are a pupil. A, you are a dinner lady.
Pupils, you ask A for the four things you want to eat or drink.

只是监督不要纠正。如果可能,就只是听着并记录下来。

Make a list of any words you don't know that would help you do this activity better.

  Activity 3 Listening Practice

Let's watch a movie.  While you listen and make a list of all the food that you hear.

At the school canteen

Dinner lady:  What would you like?
Xiao Hong:  Can I have some fish, some vegetables and some rice,
please?
Dinner lady:  What would you like to drink?
Xiao Hong:  Can I have some juice, please.
Dinner lady:  Help yourself. It's over there.
Xiao Hong:  Thanks

Dinner lady:  What would you like?
Tom:   Can I have a hotdog and some soup, please?
Dinner lady:  What would you like to drink?
Tom:   Can I have some water, please.
Dinner lady:  Help yourself. It's over there.
Tom:   Thanks

Dinner lady:  What would you like?
Wang Dong:  Can I have some beef, some vegetables and some noodles,
please?
Dinner lady:  What would you like to drink?
Wang Dong:  Can I have some milk, please?
Dinner lady:  Here you are.

Dinner lady:  What would you like?
Dai Lisi:  Can I have a hamburger, please?
Dinner lady:  What would you like to drink?
Dai Lisi:  Can I have some juice, please.
Dinner lady:  Help yourself. It's over there.
Dai Lisi:  Thanks

Elicit a list of all the words and put them on the board.  Put a picture next to each word.

  Activity 4 Kim's Game

Children work in pairs
On each pairs' desk there are cards of rice fish beef soup noodles vegetable juice bread milk chicken hot dog hamburger

B has to close their eyes and A removes one item.  B opens their eyes and guesses which item has been taken away.

Ok you need one of these things on each desk. (point to the pictures on the board) 

When they all have them out

We are going to play Kim's game.
Do you know how to play it?
B you must close your eyes – put your hands over your eyes – like this.
Now A take one of the things and hide it
B open your eyes.  What has A taken away?
OK let's play the game.  I'm going to come round and listen to how well you say the words.

While they are doing the activity, monitor and check for accuracy and pronunciation of the new words.
After the activity correct any problems with vocabulary or pronunciation

  活动4 Kim的游戏

将学生分成两人一组。
在每一组学生的桌子上都放有 rice fish beef soup noodles vegetable juice bread milk chicken hot dog hamburger等单词的卡片。

B角色的同学要矇住眼睛不看,A角色同学拿走一张单词卡片。B同学睁开眼并且判断A同学拿走的是哪张卡片。

Ok you need one of these things on each desk. (point to the pictures on the board) 

直到将所有的单词卡片做一遍。

We are going to play Kim's game.
Do you know how to play it?
B you must close your eyes – put your hands over your eyes – like this.
Now A take one of the things and hide it
B open your eyes.  What has A taken away?
OK let's play the game.  I'm going to come round and listen to how well you say the words.
