Well Christmas was when Christians believe that Jesus the son of God was born and people just like celebrate it and give each other presents and cards and you put up a Christmas tree with decorations on it and you can make paper chains and hang them up and some people put holly wreaths on their doors and it sometimes snows near Christmas.

Give out a piece of paper.  Tell the children to fold the paper so that it makes a card.   Draw a Christmas tree on the board.  Ask children to come to the board and draw decorations on it:  a red bauble, a yellow star, a blue angel, a green present, etc.

Tell them to draw a Christmas tree on the front of their own card.

Next they must write inside the card.

What do British people say at Christmas?  Do you know?  Put up your hand if you think you know.

Yes they say "Merry Christmas"

Write the words on the board and tell them to write Merry Christmas at the top of their Christmas card.

Write Merry Christmas in your best writing at the top of your Christmas card

Who are you going to give your Christmas card to?  Decide who you will give it to and inside you can write.
