天津市简称津，位于华北平原东部，北倚燕山，东临渤海，是中国沿海大港之一。

Tianjin, referred to as "Jin" for short, is situated in the northeastern part of North China Plain, bordering the Bohai Sea in the east, leaning against the Yanshan Mountain in the north, with its terrain traversing the Haihe River through north and south. The municipality is 189 km long from north to south and 117 km wide from east to west, with a total land area of 11,919.7 sq km. Tianjin, 137 km southeast of Beijing, has always been known as the gateway to the capital of China.
