      中国人去看朋友，要事先打电话约定一下，以前中国人之间可以随时到别人家里做客，现在越来越习惯于事先约好再见面，一般不会直接去找别人。
Chinese people usually make a phone call before visiting a friend. They used to call upon friends at any time they wanted before. But now people are getting used to making an appointment in advance. Usually they do not go to knock at the door straightly.

A：  Xiǎojiě, wǒ xiǎng zhǎo yí gè rén, tā jiào Mike, Měiguó rén, shì  qiántian lái de.
      小姐，我想找一个人，他叫Mike，美国人，是前天来的。
       Miss, I am here to see Mike, an American. He arrived the day before yesterday.
B：Tā zhīdao nǐ yào lái ma?
     他知道你来吗？
      Does he know you are coming?
A：  Zhīdao.
      知道。
      Yes, he does.
B：Qǐng děng yíxià.
      请等一下。
      Wait a moment, please.
      ......
      Mike xiānsheng qǐng nín zài zhèr děng yíxià, tā mǎshàng jiù xiàlái.
     Mike先生请您在这儿等一下，他马上就下来。
      He asks you to wait a minute here; he will come down soon.

(Here is a man comes to the company to see Manger Wang.)
A：Xiǎojiě, wǒ shì Chángchéng Gōngsī de. Wǒ xiǎng zhǎo yíxià Wáng jīnglǐ.
    小姐，我是长城公司的。我想找一下王经理。
     Miss, I am from Changcheng Company. I would like to see Manager Wang.
B：Nín yùyuē le ma?
    您预约了吗？
     Did you make an appointment?
A：Méiyǒu, tā bù zhīdao wǒ yào lái.
      没有，他不知道我要来。
      No, he doesn't know I'm coming.
B：Qǐng děng yíxià.
    请等一下。
     Wait a moment, please.

     Wáng jīnglǐ qǐng nín qù tā de bàngōngshì, tā zài èr yāo qī hào fángjiān.
     王经理请您去他的办公室，他在217号房间。
     Manager Wang asks you to go to his office. He is in Room 217.
