This a fun end-of-lesson activity for reviewing vocabulary.
Procedure Explain the idea of a 'forfeit' or penalty to your students.
Ask your students to think of examples of forfeits involving English. These could be for example:
Count backwards from 100 to 1. Sing a song in English. Name 10 countries in twenty seconds.
Get your students to write these on a piece of paper, fold them up and put them in a box or hat.
Next, choose a lexical set such as animals, food, transport etc. Go around the class in a chain and get each student or team to name something from your lexical set. If a student repeats something already said or cannot think of a new word they must do a forfeit.
Make sure that the forfeits are not too difficult and that they are treated by you and your students in a light-hearted manner.
It is a good idea to put students into teams so that individual students are not put under pressure. |
