毛线帽的帽沿遮住眉毛，外面再扣上运动外衣上的风帽，风帽外面扣一副耳机，工装裤肥大的裤裆几乎垂到膝盖。他就这样走过夜幕下底特律贫民区破败的街道，拐进黑暗的窄巷，一只手拎着装有全副家当的黑色垃圾袋，另一只手向身后的镜头和全世界竖起中指。



《8英里》是Eminem的自传式影片，由《洛城机密》的科蒂斯汉森操刀。此人确实有两下子，尽管故事大纲摆明了就是加了Rap的"洛奇"式肥皂剧，汉森却硬生生地压缩Rap成分，增加生活细节，拍出了一部底特律贫民区街头风情画。








电影发生在Eminem的故乡美国汽车城底特律的贫民区，"8英里"就是分隔黑人区和白人区的街道，主人公"兔子"吉米是个在黑人区长大的白小孩，他大部分哥们都是黑人，他穿得像个黑人，走路像个黑人，最喜欢在皱巴巴的破纸头上横七竖八地写Rap歌词。电影表面上的主线是地区俱乐部的Rap擂台赛就是两个选手各用45秒时间，用即兴Rap辱骂对方，观众喝彩声音大的为胜。片中一共安排了两场这样的比赛，分别出现在片头和片尾，主角自然是先受辱后报仇。片头那一段很短，片尾是最长的，一共安排了三组五段接近5分钟的Rap.








第一场戏的Rap斗法结束之后，"兔子"告诉朋友们，他被女朋友轰出来了，背着一垃圾袋行李回老妈家，进门就碰到老妈在跟新男朋友做爱。三个人在门口吵架，跟着他的小妹妹醒来，大家才算暂时停战。为了存钱租房子搬出去，"兔子"去汽车厂工作，平时他就跟朋友们混在一起，随便找些消遣：用彩蛋枪打警车、放火烧空房子、跟本区一伙已经出了唱片的Rap歌手"313"打架。镜头跟着他在底特律的穷街陋巷游荡，直到他倒霉得无以复加，然后在片尾的Rap擂台大放光彩。








影片就这样展示了底特律贫民区的风情，居民众生相刻画得尤其成功。



"兔子"不是有志青年，甚至不能算是个好人，他的生活一团糟，他离开女友的真相，并不是他所说的女友怀孕然后把他轰出来，而是他莫名其妙不辞而别；他因为怯场不敢去靠Rap擂台赛打出名，就想靠一个自称"有路"的朋友帮忙制作小样；他爱上了一个出没在Rap酒吧、梦想出书和离开底特律的女孩，却撞到后者跟他"有路"的朋友在录音间里做爱；他唯一一个白人朋友带枪帮他跟人打架，却打穿了自己的裤裆；他的母亲居然跑来跟他倾诉自己跟男友的性生活问题，家里付不出房租，眼看要露宿街头。








金贝辛格扮演的老妈是长不大的放荡女人，拿一辆一天需要修一次的超级老爷车送给儿子当生日礼物，明知没结果还要跟流氓男友纠缠不清，却在片尾展示出母性的一面。



那个交游广阔、跟朋友的女友上床的家伙不是大反派，他被"兔子"揍了之后带人去报仇，又阻止打手们干得太过分。



不忠贞、野心勃勃的女主角Alex也有善解人意、鼓励"兔子"成功的一面，长相甜美的布丽特尼墨菲把一个"小坏女人"演得光芒四射，令人欣赏，出身卑微的少年为了梦想打拼，也许就得像她一样不择手段。片尾的Rap擂台赛中，有一幕台上台下的两人互竖中指的戏，相信银幕上从没有过这样的分手情人对视：不羁、强硬，互相欣赏又一刀两断。








整部电影的感情脉络就在此处达到顶点，那是激烈、粗糙、真实的街头情感。
