前段时间轰轰烈烈的Live 8不知道大家看了没，是否对其中的一位表演艺人，钢琴独奏独唱的Daniel Powter有点印象。在前段时间他的单曲'Bad Day'也着实红了一把，但苦于找不到他的资料（他的官方网站上竟然没有个人介绍），迟迟没把他介绍给大家。现在可好了，他的处女专辑『dp』已经于7月26日正式发行，也该为他营造点声势了，下面就让我们来了解一下这位创作型才子吧。



我原本想把Daniel Powter称为新人，可是看了相关介绍后，却怎么也无法把他和这个词划上等号。有着帅气外表的他其实今年已经34岁了，富有才情的他却在音乐生涯上处处碰壁，直到32岁时才终于实现了他梦寐以求的夙愿，拿到唱片公司的一纸合约。这种坎坷的经历使他满怀感慨。



Daniel生长在加拿大英属哥伦比亚省的奥克纳根地区，自幼酷爱音乐，学习拉小提琴。他这种异于其他同龄小孩的行为使得他在学校处处受孤立，于是他把所有的热情都倾注到了音乐之中，为后来选择音乐道路打下了伏笔。与一些美国和加拿大的偶像艺人一鸣惊人的星路历程不同，Daniel的不懈努力在15年后才终于结出硕果。他苦涩的奋斗过程充满了辛酸，勤勉地创作，演奏音乐，四处奔波联系唱片公司，不停地吃闭门羹。Daniel自己说道，"我总是往唱片公司跑，感觉就像是奇渴难当的我被带到了某个水源却被禁止饮水。"他又补充道，"但我想我已经到达那里了，基本上我所要做的就是等待，认输只是一种极不成熟的处理方式。"



正是Daniel的坚忍和顽强使他迈向了成功之路。去年可口可乐选中他的歌曲'Bad Day'作为一个为期两周的广告活动的宣传曲目，此后这首歌曲便攀升上了欧洲的排行榜，随后在他的祖国加拿大也开始走红。Daniel在欧洲扶摇直上的人气连他自己都觉得难以置信，"最让我惊奇的是这首歌在一些非英语国家也大受好评，当我得知消息时，我就像，'天啊，这到底是怎么回事？'我并不会讲德语、法语、西班牙语或是意大利语。我一生当中都在演奏音乐，而我一刻也从未想过我的歌会在电台中播出。"


















除了难耐的漫长等待和艰辛努力外，Daniel还需克服怯场这个毛病。在这个月初的柏林数千人的Live 8现场他就进行了一次试验。"我把钢琴朝向树木，这样当我抬起头的时候我所看到的就只是树了。"他自己说到此事时也笑了。"我以前在西海岸的小酒吧表演时常感到自己很脆弱，但一旦听众跟着你哼唱时，这种脆弱感就烟消云散了。"



Daniel的处女专辑『dp』是他与制作人Mitchell Froom和Jeff Dawson共同完成的，专辑中包括10首曲目，首首精致动听。主打单曲'Bad Day'是一首舒心的流行作品，简约的钢琴伴奏缓缓飘入耳际，Daniel清新高亢的歌声不时穿插着假声转换，显得具有力度而又不失流畅感。除了流行的Pop元素外，Daniel还尝试将Funk, Soul, Rock巧妙地融为一炉，打造新鲜而富有感染力的新声音。专辑中的几首歌曲如'Hollywood','Give Me Life'等让我即刻想起了另外一位才华横溢的多方位艺人Remy Shand，两把磁性的声音惊人地相似，淡淡的飘逸灵魂曲风也和Remy的音乐具有异曲同工之妙。
