Revised Version of the Report:
Report on Increased Lateness
Terms of Reference This report aims to find out the reasons for increased lateness in the morning among staff, and to suggest ways to encourage employees to arrive to work on time.
Proceedings I spent one week talking informally to those who had arrived late. This involved about 20 short interviews. I also spent some time in the morning driving to the office to see for myself the possible problems that occur.
Findings There appear to be two main reasons for lateness. Firstly, there is a lot of traffic caused by the construction of the new subway system. This construction is due to be completed in February of next year. In addition, our parking lot is not large enough to accommodate all our employees. Many have to spend time driving around the area looking for a place to park on the street.
Recommendations We can do little about the increased traffic. However, we can try to encourage people to leave their homes earlier so as to arrive on time. This may be done through an email reminder or a notice placed in the kitchen. Regarding the parking lot, it is possible to expand it to accommodate all our employees. There is a small property that could be purchased or rented which isn't far from our office. However, this would be quite costly.
