A business proposal is a document you use to persuade someone to do something. This can include: ·Getting someone to buy a service or product from you ·Convincing someone that some action is needed ·Asking someone to provide you with funds One or two page persuasive letters or memos are sometimes considered proposals, but most are considerably longer, and take the style of reports.
Proposals can be solicited or unsolicited. Solicited means that a company or organisation has made a request for proposals and will then choose the one that they think is best. Unsolicited means that there was no such request.
