Safety advice In Britain, they drive on the left, so be careful when crossing a road! First, look right and then, left.
Advice on crossing the road In England you can cross the road in several ways. It is safest to use a bridge or a subway, but this is not always possible. If there is no bridge or subway, you can cross on a zebra crossing, a pelican crossing or at a junction with traffic lights.
A zebra crossing has black and white stripes on the road. You can see one in the picture at the top of the diary page. When you put your foot onto the first stripe, the cars have to stop and let you cross. In England they do stop! But of course be careful when you cross and keep looking left and right.
If there are no crossings then you can cross the road at any safe place. Remember to look right first!
