Grammar - Asking for things.
If you want to order something in a restaurant or pub here are some useful phrases:
I'd like.......(I'd = I would)
This phrase is followed by a verb in the infinitive form. For example:
I'd like an orange juice, please. I'd like a steak, please. I'd like to see a menu, please. I'd like to try the red wine, please.
The waiter or waitress may ask you this question to find out what you would like to eat or drink.
What would you like?
Or you may be offered a choice
Would you like red or white wine?
And when you pay the waiter / waitress will say:
That will be ......(that costs).......
E.g. That will be four pounds, please.
