| Oscar Wilde was born on October 16th 1854 and died on November 30th 1900. He was an Irish playwright, novelist, poet, and author of short stories and one of the greatest celebrities of late Victorian London. Wilde is buried in the Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
He is famous for his witty sayings which often have a barbed sting in their intent as well as being humorous.
