析：这里 him 是指 his true feelings.应该注意的是，英语中的人称代词并非都是指代人，所指内容要根据上下文而定，翻译时一定要指出其具体指代。又如：When he was accused of theft,he turned red.其中he=his face,不可译成 ...他变红了。

正：他为她偷了一块表。
析：此句中her是stole的间接宾语，而watch是直接宾语。

误：他并不是很有钱。
正：那并不是因为他有很多钱。
析：居中it不代表that分句，而只是一个普通的代名词。此类句型中后面的it is 可省略。句中that＝because。此句型的完整形式是 It is not that...but it is that....。it意为the reason。
