Topic: Sometimes imagination is a more valuable asset than experience. People who lack experience are free to imagine what is possible and thus can approach a task without constraints of established habits and attitudes.

From ancient apes to modern men, human beings have been evolving painstakingly in the process, in which imagination has exerted irreplaceable and critical influence.

Without imagination, Brother Wrights would not have dreamed of soaring in the sky like eagles, thereby not inventing the first airplane through constant trials and errors at the risk of their lives; without imagination, people would not have dreamed of paying a visit to the moon, thereby not creating the miracle " A small step on the moon, a giant leap for human beings"; without imagination, Elbert Einstein would not have come up with the idea of relativism and people would not have known the speed of light so early. All the inventions and discoveries unveil a solid truth that imagination is the main force through all the setbacks in the way of progressing. It is like a lamp dissipating all the mist and clouds in the procedure of human evolvement.

What about experience? Some people may think that experience may be more important than imagination. Unquestionably, experience stands out in our lives. It is accumulated from daily practices and useful and practical when we are coping with the same situations or affairs. We can solve the issues aided with experience even without thinking a second. It strongly verifies the great significance of experience in our lives. But too much experience would not be a favorable thing, for that reason that some over-experienced people will be constrained by their own experience. They may take experience for granted and will never dig into some phenomenon to explore the root. A typical example that can illustrate my point is the discovery of gravity. Before Newton discovered gravity, for thousands of years, people could often see apples falling off trees, even many had been head-hit by apples like Newton. But why only Newton would ponder upon the reason why apples fell on the group instead of towards the sky? I grant that Newton had a sharper mind than average people at that time, but what we also cannot neglect is that Newton did not take "experience" for granted. In some way, it could be attributed to Newton's young age and lack of experience, then he would like to probe into the cause of many phenomena at the push of his great curiosity. In some way, the less experience you have, the more imagination you will own. Too much experience will lead to your routine way of thinking and you can hardly take strides.

There are many paradoxes in our world, among which is the one between imagination and experience. After when constant imaginations become inventions or realities, they will deposit into abundant experience, which may conversely obstruct our imaginative ability. For example, for a long time we had the unshakable conception that the earth was the center of the universe. Whereas, after a long-term observation and comparison, we came to realize that the sun was the center of the universe. Then it was harder for us to accept the fact that even the sun is not the center of the universe and is only a tiny star in the Milky Way. The more we imagine, the more we will discover, and the more experience we will accumulate, then the less we are able to imagine. It is a ticklish paradox waiting for us to tackle.

But however paradoxical imagination and experience are, I still stick to the point that imagination, to a large extent is more valuable asset than experience, for it is the whip that spurs our civilization.
