Step 1. Greet the class and check the homework.
Step 2. Section B 1a
First let students look at the days of the week at the top of the
calendar in the book. Read these words to the class and ask them to repeat.
Then display a current wall
calendar and ask a student to point out today’s date.
Point to the numbers showing the dates of the current week and ask students to copy these numbers into the
calendar in their books.
Then ask different students to read each day’s date to the class.
Step 3 1b
Show the words on the screen:
Yesterday, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, weekday
The day before yesterday
Now ask students to write these words below the correct dates on the
calendar in 1a. Draw a
calendaroutline on the board and ask a student to fill in the correct answers there. Ask the rest of the class to check their answers against those on the board.
Step 4 1c pairwork
First ask two students to read the dialogue in the speech bubble.
A: What’s today?
B: It’s Monday the 14th
Then have students work in pairs. One student points to a date and asks, what’s today? The other student answers_______.
After they finish their practicing, point to different dates at
random on the wall
calendar and ask different students to say the dates.
Step 5 2a
First let students look at the picture. Ask the students to tell what the boy is doing( He is talking on the phone.)
Now we’ll listen to a conversation. Can Vince play
tennis with Andy? Please
circle yes or no.
Play the tape for the first time. Students only listen. Then play it again. This time ask students to complete the work.
Then check the answer.
Step 6 2b
Now look at the five activities. Ask a student to read it to the class.
Call attention to the three lettered words. Tell students that I will play the tape again. This time write the letter a,b,a in front of each activity to show which one happens today, which one happens tomorrow, and which one
happens the day after tomorrow.
Play the tape twice.
Check the answer.
Step 7 2c
Now work with your partner. One student is Andy. He asks Vince to play tennis. The other student is Vince. He says no and gives the reasons.
Ask students to practice for a few minutes. Then ask several pairs to present their conversation to the class.
