　　我教授跟我们说，他以前在美国教书，有一些球队学生从没念过书，但是大学也是要毕业，之後就可以进入职篮打NBA，退休後常常就回到母校当球队教练。



　　第「1」串：Alma Mater 母校



　　We must try to reflect credit on our Alma Mater.



　　有一位学生（姑且叫乔丹）要毕业了，但是微积分怎样都过不了这样不能毕业打NBA啊！



　　第「2」串：calculous 微积分



　　The course 'Calculous' is so difficult for me that I am afraid it is impossible to pass the exam.



　　於是就请他的教练，也是学校球队的教练来帮忙求情。



　　第「3」串：to beg for leniency 求情



　　It is no use begging for leniency here, and the only think you can do now is to get ready for the make-up exam.



　　教练∶"教授，请你一定要让乔丹过啊NBA渴望他很久了！"



　　教授∶"好吧！既然教练都来帮忙求情了，就给你最後一次机会"



　　第「4」串：to long for 渴望



　　We are longing for the final result of the test.



　　"一加一等於多少？"



　　乔丹马上不思考地回答∶"二"



　　教练∶"教授，请再给他一次机会吧！"



　　第「5」串：to give another shot 再试一次



　　You'd better give it another shot. I am sure you can make it.





　　Are you playing hide-and-seek with me? I have no interest.



　　因为你的抽屉前的那一块板子已经不见了。"当时全班哄堂大笑。



　　第「5」串：burst into laughter 哄堂大笑
