Gold
briefly recovered from its
overnight thrashing, but is now
taking a bit more of a
beating as risk
appetite wanes a little more this morning.

Gold was recently down 2.8% to $1594.70 an ounce, which would be the lowest close in more than two months. $1900, its level just 20 days ago, seems like a distant memory now.

meanwhile, is off another 5% this morning to $28.55 an ounce, having lost nearly 30% in less than a week.

This happens as some of the early-morning shine has come out of the stock market and the euro has started to crumble.
