(CCTV 06-10-2008 09:15)In Spain, more than 90,000 truck drivers have gone on strike over soaring fuel costs. They have stalled their big rigs in "snail protests" that's snarled traffic around Madrid and Barcelona.

On the A1 motorway heading to Madrid, a long line of slow-moving or stationary trucks blocked roads. The scene was repeated on other arteries leading into the capital, including the M40 motorway, and on roads into Barcelona.

It's one of a number of European-wide protests against rising fuel prices. The protesters warn their strike could bring the country to a standstill if the government does not step in to help compensate them for high fuel costs.

The government says it will guarantee market supplies. Members of the transport association federation and the government are scheduled hold crisis talks.
