KATHMANDU, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Around 400 people in central Nepal are affected by dysentery, which has killed three, The Himalayan Times reported on Sunday.
Dysentery has killed three Nepalis, leaving 40 critically ill at Lapa Village Development Committee (VDC) in Dhading district ofthe Central Development Region, some 50 km northwest of Nepali capital Kathmandu.
Dysentery, which has been raging in Dhading district for over aweek has affected more than 400 people at local area called Chepangcheng, Kachet, Humrang, Palange, Khading and Thulogaun in Lapa VDC, the report quoted a local social worker Jivan Tamang as saying.
According to the report, villagers there lack health facilities.It is difficult to treat patients as the affected areas in remote mountains have no road connection. It takes three days to walk from the district headquarters.
"Doctors at the Dhading District Hospital has started treating patients from Saturday, " said chief of district public health office Mohammad Daood.
