CNPC said on Monday that it will continue with its suspension of diesel exports as part of efforts to ensure the domestic supply of petroleum products.
(CCTV 06-03-2008 13:43) China National Petroleum Corporation, or CNPC, said on Monday that it will continue with its suspension of diesel exports as part of efforts to ensure the domestic supply of petroleum products.
The Wenchuan earthquake has damaged nearly one thousand gas stations in country. And CNPC's petroleum pipeline in quake-hit Sichuan Province was also affected, causing a reduction in oil products.
The company said considering this reduction and the approach of the traditional peak season for oil consumption, it has decided to expand its diesel imports to more than 2.4 million tons and continue its suspension of exports. The company usually exports more than 60-thousand tons of diesel each month. But it stopped exporting in September to meet the domestic demand.
CNPC's diesel imports have increased by over 50 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year.
