With only 40 days remaining before the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau has issued 10 new traffic measures. They are aimed at bringing more convenience to local residents and visitors from all over the world.

On June 20th, measures were announced to cut traffic by half. These included driving restrictions on privately owned cars as well as government vehicles, trucks and other vehicles.

And on Sunday, an extra 10 measures were issued by the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau. One of the measures concerns the upgrading of the traffic information hotline.

Zhai Shuanghe, Vice Director Beijing Traffic Management Bureau, said, "From July 20th, the traffic information number "122" will begin service in English, French, German and other foreign languages to offer information for foreign friends."

Another measure concerns any residents who have two cars with license plates BOTH ending with even or odd digits. In such cases, one of the car's plate number can be changed.

Among other measures: more parking spots and temporary licenses for special vehicles such as ambulances and school buses.

CCTV-9 is also set to work together with the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau during the Olympics to offer traffic information.
