Typhoon Kalmaegi ruined many crops in the island, affecting vegetable supplies and people's daily life, said a spokesman" title="n.发言人">spokesman with the office. He added that the mainland" title="n.大陆；本土">mainland was very concerned" title="a.有关的；担心的">concerned about this and was prepared to send vegetables wherever the island needed them.
Kalmaegi made landfall near Ilan in northern Taiwan late on Thursday, bringing heavy rain. It left 16 people dead and 11 missing in the island.
