One of the most often asked questions here is : "would you please tell me what is the best way to improve my English?" Or some questions even shocked me by giving a timeframe like: "how to really improve my English in three month?". This is, in many ways, like to ask people: "How to become a rich man?" or "How to become a
millionaire before I turn 30?"
The feeling is
totally understandable, but the question is really hard to answer. If someone asks me, I would have to say: "There is no chance to improve English so fast, but you will make good progress in a comparatively short period of time if you work hard enough and learn in an effective way." Don't get me wrong here, I am not gonna discuss learning English. What I am
trying to say is that for everything, there is a price. To get it, you have to work for it. In most cases, people believe "no pains no gains", and some witty people put it as "no pains, no brains", which means people sometimes learn their lesson in a hard way. But is the lesson really
learned? I don't really know because there is no way to judge if people really learn from experience without even knowing what they would do in the future.
Food like hamburgers and dehydrated noodle once were, or still are, popular for the busy and lazy people who eat such
so-called "junk food" to save time. But over-consumption of such food can cause malnutrition and other health problems. We have to be
cautious about what we eat just like we need to be selective in the style we live our life. I am sure a great number of people have spent years
trying to be excellent in something or try to find your true love since the day they hardly understand what is love. But has it ever occurred to you that maybe there is no such "magical way" or "your dreamed one" before you truly tried. Now I am getting a little tired of telling people my opinion on a certain subject because I know the moment I shut my mouth, they would fall back to the old way. Why? Maybe there is no proving which is right and what is wrong. And maybe they are just too cozy with old habit or ideas not to bother really make some real changes.
So word of advice: "Try to put in some real efforts to see if it works". Don't expect you will live happily if we still try to cling to a dehydrated noodle menu. Finally, don't wait till too late when we still get a chance to make it.
