I konw you may not give a shit about what I am
saying here, but Oasis is such a great band for me in a personal manner, that I feel compelled to voice my unutterable excitement at the release of their comeback album " Don't Believe the Truth ".
It's been three years since their last
studio album " Heathen Chemistry" , which ran down the same blind alley as its predecessors starting from Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and received
similarly only lukewarm reponse from critics.
Their decline from the lofty peak of the epoch-making What's the Story Morning Glory, which ranks as the most sold UK album ever, traces back to its follow-up " Be Here Now". The
expectation of that album is sky-high and it flew off the shelf like never before, becoming the fasting selling album in the UK. However, this is
primarily due to the
unprecedented success of WTSMG, and the hype built to boiling point prior to the release of the album. The music itself had shown signs of
exhaustion in inspirations and the lack of ambition was so obvious that it led people to think they
decided on rest on their laurels.
Their next two albums, although both entering at Number One on UK's album chart, continued to disappoint their fans who grew more and more nostalgic about their glorious moments in the mid-90s.
Come May 2005, just as everybody is ready to write them off, they stormed back with their latest album " Don't Believe the Truth ", to announce proudly they have recovered their magic touch and they are still the best around.
With songs like " The Importance of Being Idle", "Love Is Like A Bomb", "Let There Be Love", and "Lyda", the oasis fever is sure to return. Liam Gallagher-the frontman of the band-is back to his
arrogant best and Noel Gallagher, who is the soul of the band, found himself favored by the musical muse again.
Come on, Oasis live forever!
