Why we love BBS?

Recalling the first time when the weird looking screen with black background (Cterm) sit in front of my eyes, I did not like it at all and even today I can not believe that I will be fascinated by it. I asked myself, what on earth was it and what was its use?

As time flee, I got to know more about it and finally I know I can read articles which I was interested from it and I also can public my own articles. BBS has been carefully classified with sub theme from which we can choose.

I know most people here are funs of BBS, or at least do not dislike it, and that is the reason why you can read this article at this time.

At this stage, I, as a veteran, who has speed countless time on it and will continue waste time on it, am wondering why there are so many people fond of it.

Let me list a few below and examine it briefly.

The first reason is that we can broaden our horizons and learn a lot of knowledge which we did not know before. However, most of the time, the former took effects while the latter failed. Does it sound funny? Have you ever own the same feeling? Because we are human beings, and the nature of human beings is curious about newborn things. That is why we spent so many times on different boards, surfing on the hyperspace to investigate colorful world. Of course, we also could learn a lot from it if we can focus on the subject we are learning; nevertheless, I do think that BBS is not a serious place for learning to most people, but for communication.

The second and also the most important is that the interactivity of BBS, that is the most critical element.

No matter you sensed it consciously or unconsciously, BBS first as a confined social area, then as an entertainment environment. From it, not only did we see a lot of news, events which we did not experience ourselves, but also we made a lot of friends we did not met before or in reality. If conditions allowed, we can meet in reality, having fun together, exchanging our views together. So once you become familiar with certain boards and certain people, you won't like to leave them without particular reasons.

The last is that you can speak out your own feelings, show your views, disputing with others when your standpoints conflict with theirs. So this time you are no longer outsider who just can look what is happening, but an insider who is involved in the whole process.

Simply put, the interactive attribution of BBS and the feeling of as a host in our minds make BBS become our favorite.
