1 terrify vt使惊恐

2 wrinkled adj 布满皱纹的, 满是褶皱的;

Eg: The monster’s wrinkled face terrified people.
She wrinkled her forehead in disgust. 她厌恶地皱起眉头.
Give me a wrinkle or two. 给我一两个好主意.
3 chase v/n
v (1) 追逐，追踪，追求
chase + N
chase after + N
Eg: Two policemen chased after the thief.
chase after one’s dream
(2) 驱逐，赶走
chase + N + away
Eg: She chased the cat out into the garden.
(3) 东奔西跑；
chase about/around
Eg: I have been chasing around town all morning looking for a present for her.

Eg: After a long chase, we caught the pickpocket.
4 disgust v/n　
n 厌恶，嫌恶　　　　
Eg: I felt disgust at his bad behavior. 我对他的举止反感
He looked away in disgust.　 他厌烦地把头转开。
vt 使恶心，使人厌烦（无进行时）
Eg: The smell of the fish disgusts me.. 鱼的腥味令我恶心.
She was disgusted at/with her husband. 她对她的丈夫感到厌烦.
--- disgusted adj 感到厌恶的，恶心的;
disgusting adj 令人作呕的,十分讨厌的;
4.refuse v 拒绝，回绝; n废物，垃圾
Eg: It never occurred to me that he would refuse.
I think he won’t refuse me.
She refused their invitation.
My legs refused to carry me further.
The bank refused him the loan.
I wouldn’t refuse help to an old friend.
Refuse is collected twice a week.
Refuse a command 拒绝执行命令
Refuse an office 推辞某职务
refuse medicine 拒绝吃药
5 contrast n/v 对照，对比
n. in contrast to--- 与---相比；
be a contrast to--- 是—对比，对照;
there is a (grreat) contrast between---在---之间存在差异;
Eg: In contrast to the city life, time seems to pass slowly in the country.
Her graciousbehavior was a great contrast to her sister’s.
Such a ______ between brother and sister is surprising.

6. rush vt./vi. 急速行动；仓促完成；催促;
n 冲，奔； 匆忙, 繁忙;
Eg: Don’t rush; take your time.
They rushed to see what was happening.
Fans rushed the stage after the concert.
There is no rush. 不用着急.

7 fear n/v 害怕, 恐惧, 担忧.;
Eg: He spoke of his fears for the future.
All his employees fear him.
She has a great fear of fire.
We have fears that we might develop cancer.

9. beneficial adj. 有益的，有帮助的;
Eg: Fresh air and good food are beneficial to the health.

vt/vi. 有益于， 对-----有益;
Eg: Did you get much benefit form your holiday?
