Step1 Revision
Ask the students to describe the location of China, using the useful expression.

Think carefully and describe the location of China.

Step2 Pre-reading
Ask the students to try to describe the islands in relation to China.
Look at the map of the world on the screen and name the five islands then describe them.

Step3 Skimming
Listen to the tape read the passage fast, and then find out some information.


Practice the fast-reading

Step4 While reading
Let the students read the text loudly and find some more information about New Zealand.
1. Practice the reading, speaking abilities.
2. Improve the abilities to find out and solve the problems by the teacher.

Step5 Careful reading
Ask the students to read the text carefully and fill in the chart in order to understand the text better.
Learn to analysis the text and find out the main idea of each paragraph.

Step6 Discussion
Ask the students to compare the climate in China with that in New Zealand and say what is the same and what is different? Can you explain the differences?
