Damilano's company is one of historical" target="_blank" title="a.历史(上)的">historicalcellars in Barolo with very old traditions going back to over a hundred years ago. The long-standing tradition dates back to the end of 1800's, when Giuseppe Borgogno- the current owner's great-grandfather - began to grow grapes on his farm and make his own wine.

In line with the growing spirit and constantimprovement of the new Damilano reality they are nearly at the end of some restructuring work in the cellar. The cellar is a big building, on the provincial road Alba - Barolo about one and a half km from Barolo towards Alba, almost at the same height as la Morra.

3 The grapes which give origin to Damilano wines come from the 58 hectares that the company cultivates. These vineyards, given to the growing of Nebbiolo grapes from which outstanding Barolo crus are produced each year, are located on some of the finest land - Cannubi, List&Fossati, Castellero, Burnate e Cerequio plus other rented hectares in the Barolo wine-growing area.

Geologically the soil is part of the Sant'Agata Fossili marls, favouring the production of wines that combine the finesse of the nose of the La Morra selections with the power of Castiglione Falletto and Monforte. Cannubi vineyard is in fact the only area, in the whole district of the Barolo Production, where the soils of 2 different geological eras ( Tortonian and Helvetian) intersect, giving a wine with full bodied austerity and a gracefulfragrant style.

4 The Damilano company boasts a historic presence in the Cannubi hill,owning two hectares and having recently leased eight more hectares.

The original name but the one mostly used to define this vineyard in La Morra is Brinate, with an extension of 25 hectares and a magnificent South exposure it is in the proximity of the "Cascina Brunate" and South - West on top of the hill; Barolo Brunate is exceptionally" target="_blank" title="ad.异常地;极,很">exceptionally well-balanced. Its broad, intense and pervasive scent is complemented by generousstructure and body with well-gauged tannins and good alcohol. It is delightfully rich and complete Barolo. Cerequio is a beautiful amphitheatre vineyard almost entirely facing South where the climate is particularly mild because it is protected from the cold fresh winds from the high hill of La Morra. There is a group of houses in the middle of Cerequio which are completely abandoned today but they maintain their own charm. Set in a superb frame of vineyards, they offer a panoramic view of the Langhe of Barola, Castiglione Falletto and Monforte.

5 Cerequio has an extension of about 22 hectares positioned in the municipalities of Barolo and La Morra, the soil is fairly loose-packed with a good percentage of lime and clay, its deep soil favours the production of slightly more structured and tannic wines compared to Brunate. As time passes, Barolo Cerequio develops rich complex aromas with licorice, tar, dried roses and truffles.

6 NEBBIOLO: The most ancient&noble red grape varietal in Piedmont, known also as "The Queen Of The Black Grapes". Its name seems to come from the presence of the whitish bloom on the skin of the grape when the grape is ripe ("nebula") or from nebbia, which means "fog", frequent in Piedmont in autumn.

This grape needs great care and hard work. It is very demanding regarding the position and exposure of the land, working and fertilizing. The ideal soil for this vine is strong, calcareous and tufaceous soil, it's rather sensitive to sudden changes in temperature therefore is has to be cultivated in hilly positions well exposed to the sun, due to its late ripening. The bunches are of a medium large dimension, lengthened to a pyramid shape with a medium round dark purplish colour grape. The grape skins are thin, but quite tough and fairly resistant to molds and pests.

Mostly grown in Piedmont, it can also be found in Lombardy, specifically in Valtellina ( where it is called "Chiavennasca" ) and in Val d'Aosta.

It gives life to wines of great character and longevity thanks to the substantial presence of tannin and acidity. Nebbiolo wines made are typically dark, tart, tannic and alcoholic. Perfect with rich, strong-flavored meats and stews, as well as dry, aged cheeses.

BARBERA: An ancient Italian red varietal, even if its diffusion is mainly in Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. Until a few years ago it was considered a second choice grape due to its high acidity, since then it has been revalued because it was understood that by taking extra great care in the vineyard it was possible to improve its quality. It has high level of acidity, giving brightness & crispness, a deep ruby color and full body, with low tannin levels. The attractive ripe aroma of red fruit, currants or blackberries that can also be enhanced by vanilla, smoky or toasty notes added by barrel aging.

The room has been covered with oak staves and 3 sections have been selected: a woodencounter for enquires and purchasing, a high table with stools for "informal" tasting and a round white marble table with transparent chairs for "formal and ritual" tasting.

Barolo Brunate is a wine with a great character, which goes perfectly with roasts, braised meat, game and dishes with mushrooms or truffles. Garnet red in colour with light orange reflections, its broad, intense and pervasive scent is complemented by generousstructure and body with well-gauged tannins and good alcohol. It is a delightfully rich and complete Barolo.
