More than tens of thousands residents in northwestern Chinese city of Xi'an gathered on a square to mourn earthquake victims in a candle light vigil on Monday evening.
Local website cnwest.com reports that lots of netizens received a QQ message on Monday morning, calling for a gathering at a square near the city's symbolarchitecture, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda.
In the evening, then of thousands local residents, most of whom young people and students, held candles and chanted, "Go Sichuan! Go China!"
One of the netizens said although they couldn't go to the quake-hit areas to help those in need, they can express their love this way.
