(CCTV 07-15-2008)--Scorching sun has replaced pouring rain in parts of China. Some provinces, like Hunan in central China, are now even suffering from
drought.
In neighbouring Hubei province, residents complain that it's "baking hot". On Monday, the local meteorological center issued a yellow
warning, indicating temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. This trend is expected to continue for three days.
Anhui province in east China suffered hot and humid weather. Northwest China's Shaanxi province has also seen
unusually high temperatures. In Hunan, precipitation is some 40 percent lower compared to last year. Some parts of the province are suffering
drought conditions.
The local meteorological bureau has begun artificial rain making to ease the heat.
