(CCTV.com 09-12-2008)-- Chinese internet users spent more time online and visited more websites during the Olympics than ever before.
In a joint report by the China Internet Network Information Center and the survey organization Wrating, Chinese web users spent 25 percent more time online during the Games. Websites with Olympic content also grew in popularity, with Chinese spending almost half their daily internet activity -- an average of 3.4 hours -- on the sites.
The report attributed the numbers, in part, to a move by the International Olympic Committee that listed the internet and cell phone media as independent broadcasting organizations
