The re-entry capsule of China's second manned spaceship, Shenzhou-6, will be opened Wednesday afternoon at Beijing Space City.
The capsule arrived in Beijing Tuesday by train from its landing site in the central region of Inner Mongolia.
Head of the China Space Technology Institute, Yuan Jiajun, said the heat-resistant tiles of the capsule remained in good shape after plunging through the atmosphere before landing.
He explained that the data and experiment apparatus inside the capsule would be of great scientific value for China's future space missions.
Media had speculated that plant seeds and pig semen were among the experimental items tested aboard the craft, which was denied by mission officials.
The China Manned Space Engineering Office also refused to confirm reports that clay from Taiwan had been on board Shenzhou-6.
