Last week I got the news from CCTV9 reported that the new policy about national legal holidays, the adjustments are as followings:

1st May Labor Day: one day National Day: three days

New year's Day: one day Spring Festival: three days

Dragon's Day: one day Mid-autumn Day: one day

Tom-sweeping Day: one day

From this report, we can learn that the amount days have increased to 11days , one day more than before, many people argue for the issue about 1st May Labor Day, whether it is reasonable to change so and increase the traditionalfestivals holiday.

I have my own ideas, I think the former festival holidays is more reasonable, especially on the time interval.

Firstly; everyone hope to have a good rest after working for 4-5 months, go out for a tour or stay at home for such a long holiday. They can have much more time for rest or tour etc. and I think the final purpose for a long holiday is to make people have a nice rest. While the new increased holidays like Dragon's Day, Tom-sweeping Day and Mid-autumn Day, there are only one day holiday each, people don't have enough time for rest and make a well plan, especially the people work in other cities, one day time is not enough for them go home for the traditional holidays. So I think there is no much meaning for such a short holiday.

Secondly; the adjustment for holidays is disadvantage for us to affliliate with foreigners, especially for the trade companies and some large import and export companies. As the traditional holidays' time is one the basis of lunar calendar, the foreigners don't know very well about the holiday times, besides, the lunar calendar time changes year by year, which I think is not convenient for foreigners pay a visit to China and contact us.

Finally; I think the long holidays can boost the economical development and drive the tourism. The new short holidays can't achieve to the same effect absolutely. We should consider from the long term angle and insure people have a very good rest.
