I used to ask such a question to my foreign friends: Do you believe in ghosts? One said: Why not? Cause nothing is impossible. That was the first time I ever heard this famous
saying. It was in year 1998.
When my customer finally
decided to buy one of my
competitors' products and signed the PO (purchase order) with them, I was frustrated and I reported the issue to Michael Foo, my sales manager. He had been working for Canon for 6 years before he joined FX. He said to me: Danny, never give up, cause nothing is impossible. Before the customer paid the down payment of the machine, Michael went to visit him. Of course, he
successfully made the customer change his mind and sign the PO with us.
Wendy Han, my
senior sales manager, once said to me: Danny, as a PS (Product Specialist), you have to show your confidence and capabilities to other salesmen. Remember this: Never give up even when it comes to the last minute! Nothing is impossible!
When experiences accumulate, my confidence grows too. Sometimes I am over-
confident, though. It's funny, cause your
competitors will have almost or nearly the same confidence as yours and they also believe that impossible is nothing. So when two
confident salesmen meet, one has to try his best to beat the other. I call it "real fierce competition"!
An ex-
colleague of FX asked me two days before, what if you have already given your customer the
quotation of RMB77000, while your
competitor only quoted RMB5000 with a similar machine? I admit that this is a very difficult problem almost every
salesman will face in his career life. The point is: you have to find out why their products are cheaper and yours are more expensive. Whenever my customers said they would never buy my products or FX's products, I always gave them smiling face in return. Because I knew nothing is impossible.
So I told my
colleague not to be nervous about their lower
quotations. I asked her to tell her customer that there's absolutely nothing good and cheap in the economic society! All
merchandise has prices. The better, the more expensive! I listed for her some reasons why FX's products were always a little bit expensive than other brands. And I told her that
temperament is formed by the knowledge and experiences you have which build your confidence inside! I bet she won't let go the case any more!
So pick up your confidence and face the difficulties with a smile!
