To be a qualified and successful
salesman, you need to have strong negotiating skills.
I'm always mentioning about selling skills to you because I believe somebody in this forum will do business with foreigners sooner or later. And I hope this article would be of help to them.
I used to be the "Top Salesman" of my company, both in Singapore and China! I trained the new sales forces and shared with them some selling skills. I'm not
saying that my selling skills are of the best in the world, of course not! Somehow, I believe my experiences are valuable to those who want to be a smooth negotiator in business. Because I have paid to have these experiences and I'm now willing to tell you free of charge.
New salesmen always have the following problems:
1) They talk about too much about their products, instead of asking more useful information about the customers;
2) They don't have the ability to control the conversation with customers;
3) They have little capabilities to handle rejections from customers;
4) They are afraid to encounter competitors;
5) They don't know how to close an order even if there is a sign shows the customer wants to buy their products;
6) They do more cold-calls than doing follow-ups.
If you have none of the above problems, you are a real smooth negotiator; if not, tell me and I will tell you or discuss with you how to improve your skills.
