Nearly all Portuguese think of themselves as punctual but fault their fellow citizens for being late, the country's biggest survey of timeliness found.

　　近日，葡萄牙有关机构就该国国民是否守时这一问题进行了迄今为止规模最大的一次调查，结果发现几乎所有的葡萄牙人都认为自己在这方面做得很好。

　　Of the 3,462 respondents to the online study, 86.6 percent considered themselves as "usually" or "always" punctual in their personal and professional lives.

　　共有3462人参加了这次网上调查，结果显示，86.6%的受访者认为自己在日常生活及上班时"总是"能够做到严格守时。

　　When asked to rate the punctuality of the Portuguese in general, just 5.3 percent of the same respondents said their compatriots were "usually" punctual and a mere 0.1 percent said they were "always" punctual.

　　当被问到葡萄牙人做为一个整体在守时方面的表现时，同一批受访者中只有5.3%的人宣称自己的同胞"大抵"上还算守时，而表示他们"总是"能够做到守时的人所占的比例仅为0.1%。

　　The authors of the study, carried out by the Lisbon-based AESE business school and the Ad Capita Executive Search consultancy, said: "A good part of this paradox, resulting from the difference between the way we evaluate ourselves and others, can be explained by the Portuguese tendency to transfer blame on to others."

　　本次调查活动的组织者是位于该国首都里斯本的AESE商业学校以及另外一家咨询顾问公司，有关人员在调查报告中表示："这种自相矛盾的说法其实是由于我们在衡量自身与他人行为时采用了不同的方法而造成的，同时它也可以在很大程度上解释葡萄牙人为何总是倾向于将坏事推到他人身上。"

　　The study showed one-third of companies do not worry about punctuality, two-thirds of business meetings do not start on time and 50.3 percent of respondents said their businesses were hurt by a failure to meet deadlines, findings the authors described as "alarming."

　　该项调查的结果还显示，三分之一的葡萄牙公司并不为员工是否守时而感到忧虑，该国三分之二的商业会议未能准时召开，而有50.3%的受访者指出他们的生意由于某些事情没有在最后期限到时办完而受到一定的损失。
