One day, Hyde goes so far as to kill an old man. Not long after, Jekyll's butler (管家) comes to speak to Utterson, a good friend of Jekyll's. He tells him that Jekyll has locked1 himself in his laboratory (实验室) and will not come out. He also says he has heard a strange voice2-not Jekyll's-coming from inside.

　　Utterson and the butler break into3 Jekyll's lab. Inside, they find Hyde's dead body. There is also a note4 from Jekyll to Utterson. From the note, Utterson learns that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person.

　　有一天，海德甚至坏到杀死了一位老人。不久之后，哲基尔的管家去找哲基尔的好朋友厄德生。管家告诉厄德生，哲基尔把自己锁在实验室里不出来。他还说他听到实验室里传出奇怪的声音，但那并不是哲基尔的声音。

　　厄德生和管家闯进哲基尔的实验室。在里面，他们发现了海德的尸体和一张哲基尔写给厄德生的纸条。厄德生从纸条里了解到哲基尔和海德是同一个人。
