我不想流泪并非我不哀伤

我不想唱歌并非我是音盲

面对汶川强烈大地震

我的泪水已无济于事

心在这个季节堵得慌

I don't want to be in tears, but I am still in grief.

I don't want to sing, but I am not tone-deaf.

Facing the violent Wenchuan earthquake,

I weep about it, which, however, is of no use

And I am still obsessed by it in this season.

光流泪无法缓释我内心的悲戚

同大家一样我选择了坚强

无论我的歌喉怎么嘹亮

我决不哀伤

因为哀伤

会让我失去前进的方向

I can't alleviate my inner distress by just weeping.

Like all of you, I choose to be strong.

However loud and clear my singing voice is,

I will never be sad,

Because being sad will

Make me lost in the direction in which I march.

我决不歌唱

因为歌唱

唤不回废墟下那生命窒息的同胞儿郎

I will never sing,

Because singing can't

Bring life back to those brothers or sisters who were suffocated in the ruins.

可是我不得不哀伤

为这

突陷灭顶之灾的父老兄长

But I cannot but be in sorrows

For

The elders and brethrens who were suddenly overwhelmed by this huge disaster.

可是我不得不歌唱

为这

大灾面前挺起的脊梁

那是总理的背影

子弟兵的戎装

那是众志成城的赞歌

在川西北崇山峻岭演绎悲壮

But I cannot but sing

For

The people, with their backbones straightened before the disaster,

Including Premier Wen whose back could be watched

And the soldiers wearing military uniforms.

It is a hymn of praise to "Unity is Strength",

And interprets the tragically heroic stories taking place in the lofty mountains in North West of Sichuan.

铁骨疏离于风花雪月

我的文字变得出奇的硬朗

所有的诗句为抗震救灾迸发

每一个词组也为之铿锵

The people with muscles of steel distance themselves away from romantic affairs.

My words become extraordinarily clear and vigorous.

All the poems burst forth and every phrase reads sonorous

For the earthquake relief work.

人，不能没有良知

人更不能将同情遗忘

我们的祖先养育了我们

我们的民族何曾在艰险面前有过退让

Man can't be without conscience

And let alone to forget sympathy.

Our ancestors nourished us,

Our nation has never yielded to difficulties and dangers ahead of her.

灾难何所惧啊

炎黄的子孙总是在灾难中成长

地震震不垮

华夏儿女的头颅在磨难中高昂

因为我们是东方的不死鸟

所有的遗传基因除了铁就是钢

The disaster is not worth being afraid of.

As the descendants of the Chinese nation, we always grow up in disasters

The earthquake can't shake our faith

And we hold up our heads high in hardships

Because we are the phoenix of the Orient

And all our genes are made of either iron or steel.
