1. too...to:

`too' means `excessive', `more than necessary', the use of `too' implies a negative result.

eg. I am too tired to go to the meeting.

That box is too heavy for Bob to lift. (too heavy=It's impossible for Bob...)

8. go:

to happen (in a certain way), to proceed

eg `how is everything going?'

9. be willing to do sth

eg. He is willing to wait.

He's quite willing to pay the price I ask.

10. persuade sb to do sth

eg. I wish you could persuade her to think so.

I was able at last to persuade my companion to take my advice.

11. lose heart:

lose hope and confidence

eg. The team had won no games and it lost heart.

Don't lose heart, whatever you do.

12. give up sth

to surrender, resign, abandon

eg. She gave up her job to look after her invalid mother.
