This text is from Unit 5 SEFC Book One published by the People’s Education Press. This unit is around the topic of the Silver Screen to
practise various teachings of hearing, speaking,
reading and
writing . This unit chooses from materials involves the Chinese and Foreign famous movies,fomous actors and famous directors, having the
typical ages types, benefitting the student to understand the foreign culture,
strengthenconsciousness of the word .At the same time ,the teaching of this unit to the teacher's Chinese and Foreign
culture has a very high request with accomplishment, vast knowledge etc..

The SS in our High School are all country Ss.Their
foundation is worse, the study is passive, lack the study habit, but the plasticity is stronger and they have rich
imagination and a little experience of life,the can solve some problems by themselves..

This part reads
primarily the film of Zhang Yimou—Not One Less,and learn to make comments on films and write reviews about them.The
reading passage is about a film by ine of China’s successful film directors,Zhang Yimou.Instead of biographical information about the director,the text tellswhat one of his recent films,Not One Less(1999) is about.When talking,reading or
writing about films,the two important language functions seems to tell what film are about and to give an opinion about them.
Step 1. Teachers and the students interaction:
The teacher can establish questions to learn about the
familiarity with circumstance between Zhang Yimaou and his main works,and that can make the
cushion of Not One Less.
e.g. What does he do? What is famous for?
What films has he directed?
What is his recent film?
What else do you know about him?
Step 2 Personal activity
Tell Ss to read Not One Less to complete the table(next page) with the information from the text.
